Remembering Jonathan

One of my favorite yoga instructors was Jonathan Ray Burbank who died May 28, 2005, of heart failure while employed by Sahara India Commercial Corp in Amby Valley, India.   He was a professional yoga instructor who was certified to teach by the Bikram School of Yoga in Santa Monica, California. Jonathan was a former resident of Stratham, New Hampshire and later he owned and operated the first Bikram school in Boston, Massachusetts.   He was 27 years old.

He was a gentle man, who was not interested in materialistic pursuits but believed that there needed to be more compassion and kindness in the world. He had a great sensitivity for others and a creative sense of humor. He was deeply loved and cared for by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

  1. This is the strangest thing, I sat next to Jonathan on a bus ride from New York to Boston many years ago, he was telling me all about Amby Valley and gave me his contact details. I was cleaning out some old paper work today and found the scrap of paper he had written on and thought I would google him and Amby Valley out of curiosity, how sad this happened, he seemed like such a nice guy.
