Aikido & Culinary

Chef Sato Saturo came to the US in 1981 from Japan to go to the Berklee College of Music at Boston, and it was during that time he started macrobiotics. After college, he worked for six years as a pastry chef at the macrobiotic restaurant Open Sesame owned by Michio Kushi, and for five years at the macrobiotic restaurant Five Seasons, both in the Boston area. In 1995, he moved to Great Barrington, Massachusetts to open Shobu Aikido of the Berkshires Dojo and work as head cook and pastry chef at Bizen Japanese Natural Foods Restaurant. Satoru is the author of a popular macrobiotic dessert cookbook.
